Rules & Policy

Official tournament rules, conduct policies, and competition guidelines for NEHT Golf.

1NEHT Golf Specific Handicap Guidelines

1. New Member Handicap: All new members will play off of their respective 12-month low GHIN handicap. (If you have played in any member/guest tournament, you have seen this rule.)

2. NEHT Tour Handicap System: NEHT will use your last 8 tour rounds to create your NEHT golf handicap by throwing out your worst round of the last 8 but using your best score twice. We feel this will let your handicap move more freely than the typical 20-round GHIN handicap. Allowing poor play to raise the handicap quicker.

  • A. Event 1 โ€” Your 12-month low handicap, adjusted after Day 1.
  • B. Event 2 โ€” Uses 6 of your 12-month low rounds + your 2 tour rounds.
  • C. Event 3 โ€” Uses 4 of your 12-month low rounds + your 4 tour rounds.
  • D. Event 4 โ€” Uses 2 of your 12-month low rounds + your 6 tour rounds.
  • E. Event 5 onwards โ€” You will have a fully established NEHT Golf handicap.

2Tournament Entry & Registration

Tour Members will have first rights to play in events if the field fills and moves to a waiting list. Non members may enter events at an elevated entry fee, options on the registration for the events. All players must register prior to the posted entry deadline. NEHT golf reserves the right to accept or decline any entry. Requests for refunds before the entry closing date will be honored less the 3.5% credit card processing fee and a $25 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and outside of 48 hours of the event will be honored, less the 3.5% credit card processing fee and 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event, unless the event is cancelled by NEHT golf, in which case all entries will be refunded. Late entries may be accepted on a space-available basis and are subject to an additional fee. For late entry options, email support@nehtgolf.com or call 760-848-6069 (leave a message if I don't answer).

3Eligibility Requirements

Participation is open to all golfers with a valid GHIN handicap index. Players must meet the handicap requirements specified for each event tier. Age restrictions may apply for certain divisions. All participants must comply with all NEHT status rules.

4Rules of Play

All events are governed by the current USGA Rules of Golf. Local rules will be posted on the official scorecard or provided on a separate information page or notice to players distributed at each event. Players are responsible for knowing and applying the rules. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the NEHT Rules Committee is final.

5Pace of Play

Players are expected to maintain a ready-golf pace throughout the round. Groups falling behind the established pace of play may be subject to timing. Penalties for slow play will be applied per the USGA Rules of Golf. Players are encouraged to keep up with the group in front, not just ahead of the group behind.

6Withdrawal Policy

Players who request to withdrawal before the event fall into the refund policy.

7Refund Policy

Requests for refunds before the entry closing date will be honored less the 3.5% credit card processing fee and a $25 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and outside of 48 hours of the event will be honored, less the 3.5% credit card processing fee and 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event, unless the event is cancelled by NEHT golf, in which case all entries will be refunded.

8Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to conduct themselves with the utmost sportsmanship and respect for fellow competitors, course staff, and NEHT officials. Conduct deemed unbecoming โ€” including but not limited to club throwing, verbal abuse, or unsportsmanlike behavior โ€” may result in disqualification and/or suspension from future events.

9Scoring & Results

Scores must be submitted in the manner designated by NEHT golf for each event. Players are responsible for verifying and signing their scorecards before submission. Incorrect scorecards that have been signed and submitted are the player's responsibility. Official results will be posted on the NEHT golf website following each event. All cash payouts will be handled at the conclusion of the event. All prize purse payouts will be checks issued following the event finalization.

10Handicap Adjustments

NEHT reserves the right to review and adjust any player's handicap index prior to or during a net competition to ensure fair play. All handicap indexes are subject to the World Handicap System (WHS) guidelines. Players with concerns about handicap discrepancies should contact NEHT prior to the event.

11Photography & Media

By participating in an NEHT golf event, players grant NEHT golf the right to use their likeness, name, and images captured during events for promotional purposes including social media, website content, and marketing materials. This includes video taken at event sites, during play, interviews, winners photos among other things. Players who object to the use of their images must notify NEHT in writing prior to the event.
