Feature Golf Course Big Rock

Big Rock Golf Course at Indian Springs stands as one of the Coachella Valley's premier public golf destinations, delivering exceptional value and pristine playing conditions in the heart of Indio, California. Nestled at 79-940 Westward Ho Drive, this 18-hole, par-72 layout measures approximately 6,671 to 6,794 yards from the back tees (with player-friendly options from shorter sets), making it accessible yet challenging for golfers of all skill levels.Designed with a traditional, golfer-friendly approach, Big Rock avoids forced desert carries and punishing penal features, emphasizing strategic shot-making, well-placed bunkering, and undulating greens that roll true and fast. Reviewers consistently praise the course's "immaculate" upkeep—tees, fairways, and greens often described as "perfect 10s"—with firm, speedy putting surfaces that reward solid approach play. The layout flows naturally through the desert landscape, offering scenic views of the surrounding mountains and palm-dotted terrain typical of the Palm Springs area. What sets Big Rock apart is its outstanding conditioning year-round, earning accolades like "BEST COURSE under $100" from The Desert Sun and high marks for value in the competitive desert golf market. The course plays thoughtfully: wider fairways invite confidence off the tee, but subtle elevation changes, strategic hazards, and wind (common in the valley) add enough defense to keep scores honest. It's particularly enjoyable for mid-to-high handicappers who appreciate forgiving yet engaging design, while low-handicappers find plenty of birdie opportunities mixed with risk-reward holes.Complementing the golf experience is the on-site Big Rock Pub, a popular spot for post-round drinks, meals, and events, creating a welcoming clubhouse vibe. With excellent pace of play, friendly staff, and affordable rates (often in the $70–$140 range depending on season and time), Big Rock has become a go-to for locals, visitors, and tournament play alike—highlighted by its recent club championship hosting.Whether warming up for bigger events or enjoying a relaxed desert round, Big Rock Golf Course at Indian Springs combines top-tier maintenance, scenic beauty, and genuine value into one of Indio's must-play public tracks.
